  3. John- The dog's name is Rosie. I wrote a few posts about her on my other blog.

    Dess- Everyone in Japan studies English at school for at least 6 years, but because the emphasis is almost entirely on written English, many cannot speak very well even after those 6 years. Although this has been changing in recent years with more emphasis being placed on the spoken language, Japanese English education is still far from ideal.
    There are many private English schools, large and small where students can go to study conversation with a native English-speaking teacher, and in the past 10-15 years there are native teachers at the public schools as well who act as assistants to the Japanese English teachers.
    I run a small conversation school out of my home with about 40 students, from ages 5 to 75.
