Children's Day

This past Thursday was Children's Day and Rin had a great time!

Here he is at our local supermarket (not) watching his Daddy make an origami helmet for him.

And here is the finished product, decorated by Mommy.

He loves his children's day carp streamers and wanted to take them with him on our walk.

They kept dragging on the ground and getting into the stroller wheels though, so Daddy eventually confiscated them.

Rin and Charlie

I've got a bunch of pics of Rin from the holidays lying around that need to go up, so here they are!

These are from Stephanie's Christmas Eve party. Rin is hanging out with Stephanie's daughter Hilary's son, Charlie. They are playing with some kind of iphone game together. Well ,Charlie (3) is playing and Rin is watching in awe.

Here is Rin in his Santa hat. It's hard to get him to look at the camera these days.

Skeleton Family

Rinatarou and I dressed up as a Mommy and Baby skeleton for Halloween this year and Daddy wore a jack-o-lantern T-shirt. This year's Halloween party was also a big success with over 20 students,relatives and friends attending!

Happy 4th of July

Here we are at the park and Rin is all dressed up for the 4th of July! I wish we could have had fireworks and a BBQ, but we had to settle for watching a baseball game at the local park.

お正月:O-shougatsu

We had a lovely New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Nagata with Sho-chan's family. We went to the shrine and we all picked our fortunes. It looks like this is going to be a great year for the Kanou family because all three of us got 大吉 (Dai-kichi or Great Luck)!


This was one of the candidates for our New Year's card. I liked the confused look Rin had here, but we eventually went with the smiley design you all got. (Anyone who didn't get a nengajou and wants one ー send me your address in an e-mail and I'll mail you one!)
