Ojii-chan and Obaa-chan took care of Rosie while I was away, and yesterday we went to pick her up. She was rather chubby when she came back but looked like she had had a good time! Thanks!

Birthday Boy

We had Rin's 1st birthday party this Sunday at Ojiichan and Obaachan's house. Here he is with them. He got two cute new outfits from Obaachan, some cash for his savings account from Ojiichan, a stylish pirate water bottle from his Daddy and another outfit and a plastic Baikin-man from Mommy. What a lucky boy! He also enjoyed eating the cream from his cake, pictures of which I should be uploading to FB soon!

We had a lovely New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Nagata with Sho-chan's family. We went to the shrine and we all picked our fortunes. It looks like this is going to be a great year for the Kanou family because all three of us got 大吉 (Dai-kichi or Great Luck)!


This was one of the candidates for our New Year's card. I liked the confused look Rin had here, but we eventually went with the smiley design you all got. (Anyone who didn't get a nengajou and wants one ー send me your address in an e-mail and I'll mail you one!)
